Dangerous Drugs Act of 1920
The Dangerous Drugs Act of 1920 is an Act that restricted drug use within the United Kingdom in an attempt to bring foward the dangers of drug addiction. The Act made out to control the export, import, sale, distribution and/or possession of drugs such as raw opium, morphine, cocaine, ecogonine, and heroin. These drugs were widely used as medical and recreational drugs at this time leading to numerous accounts of drug addiction. Drug addiction was treated as disease until it was realised that drugs, and the addiction to them, were the problem, which set the governement out to implement this Act in 1920.
