Da Vinci's study of anatomy remains as one of his most astounding science findings. Much of his anatomic studies did not see any application until centuries later; however, his studies of the horse directly influenced the two equestrian statues he designed. Depicted is Da Vinci's sketch of a horse's leg in the air as it walks with lines of dimension measurements on and around it. Using his artistic skills and scientific measurements, Da Vinci helped create structurally stable and realistic equestrian statues. This specific sketch is reflected in Verrocchio's Colleoni equestrian statue monument (Kulenovic and von Platen).
