Lewis Carroll: A Short Biography
Charles L Dodgson, later Lewis Carroll, was a relatively wealthy and politically conservative mathematician born in Cheshire, England, in 1832. Dodgson was brilliant in school, attending a rugby school for three years and later moving on to attend Oxford. He was avid in his interest in the arts, writing, and poetry, which eventually led him to put out one of the most famous pieces of literature of all time. This, of course, is the work that would later come to be known as "Alice in Wonderland". Though he himself denied it, it is widely believed that Alice was based on one Alice Liddell, a young girl with whom he was family friends.
