COVE

This picture shows a love story about a nurse and a soldier going through a relationship while trying to balance going through war. This shows that people find love in the armed services. The main idea behind “A Farewell to Arms” is to show the relationship between love and war. It also shows some balance between the “manly” or the “masculine” side of war because of men holding guns and battling each other. While, women in the military at the time were seen as “feminine”, “healing”, and “caring” for the hurt soldiers. But, in war people can lose a person they care about in war. This is similar in “Dulce Et Decorum Est” because it shows you the reality of war. It also shows you that people who join the military are young and they still want to have relationships or find people who they care about. For example, in “Dulce Et Decorum Est” in lines, “My friend, you would not tell with such high zest”. The author is basically saying that young adults can find “happiness” and “love” when fighting for their country. Maybe this could be some form of persuasiveness to young adults regardless of gender to be in a war to either help save lives like the nurses or fight to protect your country.
