Description:
On this page of "The fisherman and his soul" From top to bottom we see the Titel of the book in big bold words with Fisherman being the biggest word and in blue color meaning that the main character of the book will be a fisherman. Under the title the words And Other Fairy Tales are in smaller size than the title words and are italic. Under that we have the author Oser Wilde and the illustrator Theodore Nadejen. Theodore Nadejen has done cover book art for many other known books like Kai Lung’s Golden Hours, The wallet of Kai Lung, Gessar Khan, Kai Lung Unrolls his mat, and Gessar Khan. Under the Author and Illustrator and there is an ornament illustration. The illustration is one of a fish that looks like a sturgeon. The sturgeon like fish is Infront of what looks like to be other marine or water plant life like coral and seaweed. The art type used in The fisherman and his soul is classified as art deco which According to Encyclopedia Britannica, “Art Deco is... characterized especially by sleek geometric or stylized forms and [in 3D art] by the use of man-made materials” This style of art is used a little bit in this piece of art. The fins of the fish closed to the head are common shapes and style that is used in art deco. The sturgeon-like fish is drawn over the corals and sea life to show that the fish is in front of the corals which gives the art a 3D appearance. The fish is meant to be the center of attention in this piece. The same image is used on the next page of the book but instead of being blue like on the cover page it's black. The blue color was used in the title words to make the fisherman standout I wonder if the editors and illustrator did the same with this piece of art.
