Russell Square, London
Russell Square is a large garden square in Bloomsbury, in the London Borough of Camden. It is named after Francis Russell, the fifth Duke of Bedford, who commissioned James Burton to develop the land north of Bloomsbury Square into a residential area with large terraced houses for upper-middle-class families, with Russell Square as its focal point. A statue of the Duke was erected in 1807 and still stands at the south side of the Square.
