Newcastle Upon Tyne, or simply Newcastle in Pride and Prejudice, is the city in the northeast of England where Mr. Wickham was stationed after his marriage to Lydia. Near the end of the 19th century, Newcastle became one of the most important military ports in England; nearly all British and German war ships were repaired and modified in Newcastle.
