Combe Magna

This estate is where John Willoughby resides. Willoughby is also heir to his aunt, Mrs. Smith's, estate and fortune. In Chapter 14, Willloughby compares Combe to Barton cottage and admires the cottage's quirkiness, declaring it "faultless." In Chapter 20, Ellinor asks Mrs. Palmer about Combe Magna and if "Mr. Willoughby [is] much known in [her] part of Somersetshire?" Mrs. Palmer explains how she "does not believe many people are acquainted with him, because Combe Magna is so far off" (144). The landscape in Combe Magna is similar to that of the Palmer's estate in Cleveland, as they both remain in Somerset.
