Kiev, also spelled Kyiv, is the capital city of Ukraine. It is situated on the Dnieper River. The city is an important center of science, industry, and education. Kiev boasts two botanical gardens, Independence Square, the National Art Museum of Ukraine, and St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery.
