Pisa

Pisa is a city in the Tuscany region of central Italy, located on the river Arno. It is the capital of the Province of Pisa. It is home to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, the bell tower of the city’s cathedral. In the eleventh century, it became one of the historical maritime republics of Italy. Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa.

This crowning of Napoleon as King of Italy is a result of the French conquest of Italy. Napoleon was crowned King of Italy with the iron crown of Lombardy on 26 May 1805 (crown pictured above). His full title was "Emperor of the French and King of Italy."
