Red Sea
The Red Sea is located between Africa and Asia as an inlet of the Indian Ocean. It is frequently associated with the biblical story of the Israelites crossing the Red Sea in the Book of Exodus after Moses parted the waters so the people could escape persecution. In 1869, after a decade of construction, the Suez Canal was opened, connecting the Red Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.
