Where Only Eagles Dare to Go
George Weslow
I've often thought of climbing
to the mountaintops high,
way up there in the clouds
where only eagles dare to fly.
To look down on the industries
that lie so far below,
and to breathe the clean, fresh air
and to touch the clean white snow.
To stand on the snow-capped peaks
like the magnificent mountain goat,
with nothing but the icy wind
plucking at my coat.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life
and the crowded subway scene,
just the freedom of empty space
where a man can sit and dream.
To feel completely separated
from the routine of every day,
to grasp the freedom everyone dreams of
but just can't seem to find the way.
If I could do this while I'm young
I'd be the richest man I know,
I'd have contentment and peace of mind
where only the eagles dare to go.
